We all had a good holiday and lots of good fun.Lots of boozing and drunken artist by the end of the night.The convention goes on until 2.00am which leaves ample time for much drunken fun.Music was good and nice erotic shows!
Will definately recommend for the weak hearts(it'll make you stronger).

Patience and good talent is the best mix to becoming infamous unlimitedly.One without the other will be short lived.Talent is a gift and must be used with careful patience.
For example,take an artist with no patience.Give them a paint brush and what will you get?Worst if you have a tattoo artist with no patience,give them a machine,needle and ink,what will you get??
Many young artist today think they can be the best artist with just talent.
It has been written that the great painting by Leonardo Da Vinci the "MonaLisa" took 12 years to complete.The original work sits at the Lourve in Paris is just about 36" by 48" approx and if that took 12years to complete that is a Masterpiece of patience.
So the point here is can you create masterpieces of art without patiently mastering the skills?Most unlikely.Every stroke is of utmost importance.
Would you consider getting a tattoo from an impatient undergraduate tattoo apprentice who have not mastered the skills of tattooing?
If you ever come across one, do blog about it.It is a disgrace to the tattooing world of beautiful art.

Brief guide about tattoos

The tattoo's history can be traced back to the fourth millennium BC in Europe and 2000 BC in Egypt, and the current interest in tattoos is evident in many ways: in advertisements, the stereotypical "outlaw biker" character in films and television, the availability of temporary tattoos for children and even the production of a tattooed Barbie doll. Tattoos have become a significant statement, a means of interpersonal communication without words, across the globe.In October, 1991, a five thousand year old tattooed man made the headlines of newspapers all over the world when his frozen body was discovered on a mountain between Austria and Italy. He had apparently been hunting and was caught in a snowstorm as he tried to return home. Together with the body were clothing, a bow and arrows, a bronze ax and flint for making fire.The skin is of great interest because it bears several tattoos: a cross on the inside of the left knee, six straight lines 15 centimeters long above the kidneys and numerous parallel lines on the ankles. Spindler stated that the position of the tattoo marks suggests that they were probably applied for therapeutic reasons.
Tattoos is probably the oldest known form of art preservation.
So far no such mummyfied tattoo art has been found in Malaysia so the exact truth about how far back tattooing went in Malaysia is still unknown.However, our very close neighbours, Borneo, has a more interesting history.
Borneo is one of the few places in the world where traditional tribal tattooing is still practiced today just as it has been for thousands of years. Until recently many of the inland tribes had little contact with the outside world. As a result, they have preserved many aspects of their traditional way of life, including tattooing.
One reason for the physical and cultural isolation of the inland natives is the sheer size of Borneo. It covers an area five times as large as England and Wales, and ranks as the third largest island in the world (only Greenland and New Guinea are larger). The landscape consists for the most part of steep hills, mountains, and dense rain forests. There are few roads, and most travel occurs by air or by boats which traverse Borneo¹s many rivers.
Recent archaeological finds indicate that the ancestors of some contemporary native tribes have lived in Borneo for over 50,000 years. Well into the twentieth century many of them lived the life of the stone age. They fished, hunted, and cultivated rice just as their ancestors had. Game was abundant and the forest constantly renewed itself.
They probably had natural herbs for medicine and lived a carefree tattooed life.

1st Singapore Tattoo Show

The inaugural Singapore Tattoo Show ended on Sunday, 11 January 2009 with just over a total of 14,000 one-day and three-day passes sold, bringing the total number of attendees to 15,000 who attended the 3-day convention held at Singapore Expo Hall 6B from 9-11 January 2009. The show saw people from all walks of life, as well as few thousand overseas visitors who flew down especially for the show.

The show saw an exhibitor line up more than 120 tattoo studios and 16 tattoo vendors from various countries, showcasing various tattooing techniques using machines and traditional tools and boasted an exciting programme featuring a body art-bikini fashion show, HPI drifting competition, Harley Davidson showcase, tattoo photography showcase, Art Fusion, live band performances and a daily tattoo contest.Well-known tattoo personalities Paul Booth of Last Rites Tattoo (USA), Chris Garver of Miami Ink (USA), and Bob Tyrrell of Night Gallery (USA) were at the Singapore Tattoo Show 09.

“From the response we have achieved, we are considering doing a bigger and more comprehensive show in 2010,” added Debra Tan, co-oganiser of the Singapore Tattoo Show 09, “So look out for details in October 2009!”

Dragonfly is proud to be part of this successfull event and will be looking forward to the even bigger event next year. We are proud to present our artist Terence Angel Trawlerey as one of the contestant in the 'Tattoo of the day' category for 3 times ,2 days in a row.His artwork was presented to respected celebrity tattoo artist Chris Garver.Terence is looking for fresh skin to start his new collection for the next tattoo convention in October in Bangkok Thailand in the hopes of participating in the 'Best 3D' artwork category.So if you are interested do contact us.
Dragonfly's other artist Marcus was extremely busy the entire show.Awed by this convention,adding more international skin to his collection.Being his first international exposure,Marcus was not well prepared to participate in any category however do not stop keeping an eye out for this fellow to shine in the next coming convention.

The Polynesians are perhaps the most famous tattooists:
In 1769, the people of Tahiti gave the West (in the person of Captain Cook) the word “tattau” (or “tatatau”). The Europeans who visited these islands spread the practice around the world.
Hawaiians often bear their family's Aumakua, a family or guardian spirit, tattooed on their bodies. The picture accompanying this article shows a tattoo of 3 honu's or turtles, representing one particular family's Aumakua (courtesy of Samuel Cheney).
Especially the Maori, both men and women, of New Zealand are known for the ornate head tattoos called “moko”. These are unique marks of status, position, parentage, abilities, and rites of passage that the wearer has undergone. Despite the effort of Christian missionaries to stop the practice, it survived until very recently and is now being revived.

The earliest (known) tattoos were amulets protecting the wearer against pain or danger.
The oldest known tattooed human is Otzi the “Iceman”, a 5,200-year-old mummy found near frozen in the Alps near the Italian-Austrian border. Otzi wears 57 dots and small crosses over his lower spine and on the joints of his right knee and ankle. Because on these spots Otzi’s bones were strained and deteriorated, scientists speculate that the tattoos were applied there to alleviate and/or ward off pain.
In Egypt, tattooing was a female practice. Figurines from 4,000 B.C. and female mummies from 2,000 B.C. display tattoos conspicuously concentrated on the abdomen and thighs. They are probably not a prostitute’s protection against sexually transmitted diseases, but rather amulets for women during pregnancy and childbirth. Imagine a net of dark dots that, as the pregnancy progressed, expanded around the belly/baby. Other images are of the deity Bes, the protector of laboring women. It is not known if this was common among all women or reserved for the privileged.
Social status
Tattoos were also marks of high distinction.
The 2,400-year-old frozen mummies of a Scythian man and woman (found in Siberia) show elaborate tattoos of mythical creatures all over the body. In 450 B.C., the Greek historian Herodotus explained Scythian and Thracian tattoos as marks of nobility, adding that the lack of tattoos betrayed low birth.
Ancient Nubian (south of Egypt) mummies from between 2,000-1,500 B.C. have blue tattoos. Slightly more recent representations of male Libyan war leaders show geometrical tattoos on arms and legs.
The ancient Briton tribes also wore tattoos of animal creatures as marks of high status. The Romans called one such tribe “Picts,” meaning “painted ones”.

Tattooing is minor surgery--it involves the puncturing of the skin with a foreign object. To be safe, you must shop for tattoo artists like you would for a dentist. There are many things that tattoo artists must do to keep their work area clean and avoid contamination from blood-borne pathogens, since a small amount of blood is a normal part of the tattooing process. There are things you should look for in your prospective artist's studio, such as a neat and clean appearance, an autoclave and ultrasonic cleaner, a clearly labeled sharps container for used needles, plastic barriers on all tattooing equipment, and instruments that are taken out of autoclave pouches with proper sterility indicator. Your best bet when scouting for a new tattoo artist is to talk with them and ask questions about these things first. Any respectable tattoo artist will know all about the safety concerns of their craft, and should not have a problem answering some basic precautionary questions. Indeed, your tattoo artist should be way more concerned about being clean and safe than you are--after all, you deal with only one tattoo that day, but your artist is likely dealing with many people, every day. If the artist blows off questions or gives you vague answers, that’s never a good sign. If they are happy you are asking, answer your questions clearly, and show a genuine concern for safety then you are probably in good hands.
Again, no tattoo artist should ever be annoyed that you are asking about your safety, because your question directly relates to their safety. They don't want to contract a disease from the tattoo process any more than you do. Although the chances of this happening are slim, it still does happen, so you should always err on the side of caution. With very few exceptions, this means that getting tattooed out of someone’s house or at a 'tattoo party' is not a good idea. Sure, it may seem more 'authentic' to get a tattoo from a friend in the clubhouse basement, but it's not. Authentic tattoos are done in a professional environment by experienced tattoo artists who have learned from industry leaders. In any event, artists tend to create an environment that works best for them, so that they will be on top of their game at the place of their choice. There are exceptions to every rule, of course, and some tattoo artists who have learned in a professional environment end up working from their homes after crazy tattoo studio owners, well, go crazy. Be very forewarned, though: unless you really know your tattoo artist and his or her history, getting tattooed out of someone’s home is generally not a good idea.
Artistic Talent
This may seem obvious to most people, and once stated it’s easy to understand, but many first timers don’t realize that tattoo artists vary drastically in ability. Every tattoo artist has different talents and abilities. Some, unfortunately, don't have much of either. Tattoo artists aren’t made equal, and picking an artist without knowing what’s possible in tattooing is a good way to get shitty tattoos (we know this firsthand!). Consider this metaphor: There are tons of rock bands out there. Without too much 'music training' you will find that there are bands you like and bands you hate. If you listen to lots of music for years with a critical ear, you can start to pick out the bands that are popular because of marketing, and which are popular because of talent and hard work. It takes a bit of learning and experience to really pick apart the music scene and find the good stuff--the same applies for tattoos. Chances are, if you just flip on the radio or stop off at a local rock club and listen to a band at random, they probably aren’t that good. Likewise, if you have picked a tattoo artist without researching and looking at hundreds and hundreds of tattoos, then chances are pretty good you will just get an average, if not downright bad tattoo. Before you can properly tell good tattoos from bad tattoos, you need to look at the artistic ability of many tattoo artists to see what's really possible with the art-form, and then you will have the experience and knowledge to pick a tattoo artist that's perfect for your idea or design.
Quality Tools and Technical Ability
As you may have guessed, artistic talent alone does not make a good tattoo. The artist needs to combine that raw talent with precise technical ability and the right equipment. Tattoo artists must have the proper tools and techniques to tattoo well.
While you can find homegrown methods to making your own tattoo machines and giving tattoos, quality tattooing takes years of patience, learning, practice, and experience. If learning to tattoo is not done in a proper studio environment, tattoo artists tend to screw up their friends and other poor suckers for years in an effort to learn the proper ways to do things. Don’t be one of those suckers. Learn through research which tattoo artists are able to combine their art knowledge with sound tattoo techniques--not all good artists can use a tattoo machine properly, and not everyone who's managed to learn how to use a tattoo machine can create good art.
Unless you are a tattoo artist yourself, it can be very hard to tell if your artist is using quality equipment or supplies, but chances are that if their work is comes out amazing and heals well, they are using the right stuff and you can feel secure in your decision. Its also worth noting that good equipment costs more money, so tattoos from artists with better tools tends to run higher. A few general things to look for to judge whether your artist has quality tools and technical ability are crisp, clean, solid outlines, and evenly saturated color with smooth blending and shading, all with the tattooed skin NOT looking like it is very rough or chewed up. If you don't have an artist picked out yet, then looking for these attributes while researching hundreds and hundreds of tattoos from various tattoo artists will give you an idea about possible skill levels. So if someone comes at you with a needle and thread or a homemade 'tattoo gun' telling you they’ll do it for free, run away yelling “guns are for killing, I want a tattoo!” Believe the guinea pigs, cheap tattoos are done dirt cheap and worth every penny.
Remember--good art alone does not make a good tattoo, and a well done tattoo does not mean that it is also good art.

Tattoo artists, like everyone else, come in all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. You will be doing yourself a favor by choosing an artist who is honest (you're trusting them with your body, after all), courteous (who wants to be permanently marked by a jerk?), and ethical (will you feel safe with someone who is obviously only after your money?). A quality tattoo artist should be honored that you would want their artwork on your body for the rest of your life--in essence, you will be wearing a piece of them; their mental and physical energy will be transferred directly onto the surface of your body in the form of your tattoo. You are complimenting their artwork by letting them use your skin as a canvas (assuming you are getting a somewhat artistic tattoo). If the artist blows you off and doesn’t treat you well, find another artist who has better manners (unless their artwork is truly perfect for you, and you feel you can put up with it!). Of course, you also owe it to your tattoo artist to in return be honest (about your expectations), courteous (don’t make an artist draw for hours then skip your appointments, etc), and ethical (don’t make one artist draw something and take it to another to tattoo for cheaper, etc). The entire tattoo process is one based on trust, respect, and commitment that goes both ways.
Reputation
Rumors, reputation and second hand stories are never completely accurate, and every tattoo artist has at least a few people who don’t like them for some reason. Even still, it might be a good idea to find out about a tattoo artist's reputation on the street. Honest, quality tattoo artists tend to have many more people talking good about them than bad. Just because you have two friends that got a tattoo from someone and love that tattoo artist is not enough. Now, if two dozen people and a few tattoo artists with excellent tattoos all tell you you're in good hands with the same artist, that’s a good clue the artist has what it takes to do your tattoo.

I think 1 glass of alcohol( premium kind of course) will definately boost your 'happpy' hormones making life so much more pleasurable then what it is.I would personaly take 4 at the least to be truthful about things.

Tattoo Convention in Malaysia!

It's the second time MALAYSIA will be hosting a tattoo convention!

Didn't know that??? The first one was held in 2002.

We at Dragonfly are extremely proud that Malaysian have come so far in the tattoo world.Holding our own convention,where the so and so's of the tattoo world get together!

I am proud to be Malaysian at this moment.

Tattooing is still not excepted in many of our small population -yet.

Malaysia, the mother to beautiful traditional tattoos,an art that is slowly vanishing, is growing slowly but surely towards preservation of the art form.

Holding our own tattoo convention will open the eyes of many who cannot afford to get astro - to watch Miami ink or to fly to other world wide conventions (that boost tourism).

Terence is based in Dragonfly One Utama. A brilliant artist with a unique style of his own. An all rounder. Just tell him what you want and he delivers. He also is a piercer after he is a tattoo artist.

Tracy/Peisie-same person ,tripal identity. Tattoo Artist,wife and mother,in that order and voted the "Most Beautiful" artist in Dragonfly. Her work is fresh and patiently executed.She is a perfectionist.
